newest painting...

Ties That Though I'm not updating, I am working. Yesterday made books and helped Laura with her bookmaking/bookbinding class as well. I'll upload pictures tonight.

I've stepped away from this blog and away from my artwork. As crazy as it makes me, it's also helping. I'm feeling inspired. I'm having visions of paintings/collage work. I'm reaching my limit of not working. I thought I'd be in ceramics again by now, thought I'd be throwing, playing in the mud, making stuff.

This summer was too much for me...just the fact that new things kept popping up. No room for creativity...

sketching now...playing a bit in the mud...and in my mind

Our bookmaking class this past Saturday was a complete success!

I really love the books that we made...I'm hooked!

Mine is the front blue/green one, and the open star book right behind it...now to buy more supplies!!

I just love the way the blossoms looked this year. They're bright and full. The trees buzz with bees...

"Rise" by Crystal Mascarenas (me)

This is the mask I finished for the ART THING's most recent show at Muddpuppie's. I dreaded seeing it painted, but I'm really pretty happy with how it turned out.

I've started making soap again. Between these last three days I've made: Pachouli Clove, Lavender mint, Orange chocolate chunk, Chocolate Mint, Milk and Honey, Lime and salt (in the bath bar), and a few sore muscles massage bars...what's next?!

Images

Pictures from our adventure in brick hauling...really just a few of my favorite images from the old building/machinery. I took almost 100...here's a tiny taste (some of my favorite and reoccuring themes).

We hauled lots of bricks. More than likely will do it again next weekend.

Love the tired after working hard. We ordered Chinese food... I spent lots of time scrubing the tub and showering just so I could take a two hour bath. This really is the good life.

I must...

get to the college and play on the wheel again. I have a couple of lightswitch plates that I'm working on. I have one or two left from this summer. Most of them sold, but I guess I need to start working on inventory now so summer isn't a killer this time.

These sold like crazy.

I was playing with glass as well. Here's what I did last summer:

They say: Queen, Fisherman, and Hot. I only sold one of these...not quite unique enough, I think...I stopped doing the etched glass for a while, and now I have a large shelf of glass just waiting to be played with and modified. I want to melt it...and then etch it...

traffic exchanges

These have been a fun way to find new sites and generate traffic to my site. You're probably surfing here using one of these methods, but if not, I recommend trying them out. Mulitple accts = more traffic and more sites to see faster...

My favorite exchange is Blog Explosion.

There's a link to blog clicker on the right...it's a lot like blog explosion with some of the same users.

This one just started up in January and has only a 15 second wait time: Traffic Pods.

One more that I use is Haunted Clicks.

That's all for now...

Our opening went well today.

The opening for The Art Thing's "Emergiendo" show went very well. There was a good turn-out of people, as well as a wonderful layout of food. I brought some crumbly chocolate cake rolls and tiny cheesecake cups. Unfortunately, I forgot my digital camera, so I'll be begging pictures from my friends who went.

This evening I'm updating my website: Polyartgirl.Net. I have big ideas.

(I'm always looking for an honest and helpful critique.)

Throwing again...

I spent several hours playing in the mud today...throwing for the first time in years. After making a mess, destroying most of what I made, and trying to remember what the hell I'm doing, I ended up with a few bowls that will be handled into cups soon.

In the upper left you can barely see the little red vase.

The Art Thing: Emergiendo

Our art group is finally having our first show. After showing in various places for the past year with other artists or in open settings. We're beginning with three pieces each, as well as a portrait of another of the artists. It'll be fun to see what people get done.

These are four new framed photos heading off to the gallery today:

Two van dyke prints on handmade cotton rag paper, and two fiber darkroom prints. Better photos to follow...
